Holiday Hotel Salvador

cheap place to stay in el salvador?

please no big name hotels like ramada, holiday inn. I need a really cheap hotel/ hostel. please anyone from el salvador (that knows the area) that can recommend an economical but SAFE option. I will be staying 10 days with my 10 month old.
Oops, sorry. I will be in SAN SALVADOR. My husband’s family stays near downtown, but their 1-bedroom apt. isn’t an option for us.

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Miramonte before. It’s cheaper than your American chains down there and I felt okay walking over to the mall (MetroCentro is about 2 blocks away). There are a few bars close-by, but they never seemed to be a problem. The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. I brought my family there (they had never been to El Salvador before) and they felt comfortable. I didn’t encounter any staff that spoke English, so make sure you know Spanish well if you’re going to stay here.
